Since the 1920s, the Andrews family has had a long legacy of serving the Cambridge area and surrounding counties. Our high quality products have supplied our customers with all they’ve needed for successful food-service operations and experiences.

 

In 1919, Mike and Shafica Andrews immigrated from Lebanon to the United States. Through hard work, a desire to provide a good life for his family, and in true representation of the American Spirit, Mike began his own business selling block ice for refrigerators. Over time, he gradually expanded his endeavors to include fruit and vegetable sales in the 1940s. Like most beginnings, it was humble… just a simple truck and a produce stand, but by 1952 it had burgeoned into the business you may well know: the Mike Andrews Fruit Company, a fruit and vegetable wholesaler.

 

Hard work is a family trait, and when Mr. Andrews finally retired in 1960, his son Fred Mike Andrews took on the mantle of owner/operator of the company. In 2010, Mr. Andrews purchased the Food Distributors, Inc to further expand the family trade.

 

Today, though both of these great men have passed on, FDI continues to be run by the next generation of the Andrews family. In 2017, ownership changed hands, and the Andrews brothers have renewed their commitment to better serve our customers. They are passionate about growing this company with the same determination and small-town business approach that has made their family a success since the early 1900s.
